How to Transform from Manager to Leader, Leading Your New Team – The One You Just Inherited, Leading Your Team Through Change
Kelly Young’s professional life has been focused on how to make systems work better to help people live their best lives. She has over 20 years of leadership, change management, organizational and program design experience. Her career has centered on building programs and leading organizations that serve vulnerable populations experiencing difficult social and health concerns. Currently she is the CEO of Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. (CRR) a United Way non-profit organization that’s mission is to help people identify and overcome their barriers to achieve a stable life. CRR breaks barriers for people experiencing substance abuse, underemployment, and housing instability, with focused services for youth, Veterans, people with disabilities, and those referred from the criminal justice system.

She was previously the CEO for the AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc.  and the Executive Director of The Women’s Fund for Health Education and Research. Kelly also worked as a Vice President at the Houston Area Women’s Center, providing domestic and sexual violence services. During her time working with survivors, she developed a training exercise, “Walking the Walk” to provide an experiential experience to understand how the systems work or do not for rape survivors. The exercise was sold across the nation to advocacy groups, law enforcement agencies, and universities.

Throughout her career, she has participated as a director on non-profit boards and currently is a board member for Avenue 360 Health and Wellness, a local Federally Qualified Health Center. She is also a member of Network of Behavioral Health Professionals.  She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Portland State University and a master’s degree in Managerial Sciences from Amberton University.  Kelly is an avid reader and likes to spend time outdoors riding her bike, hiking, and camping.
