r. Willy is the founder and principal of Willy, Nanayakkara & Associates. Over the last 30 years, Mr. Willy has built the Houston and Atlanta based law firm from a single attorney practice to a bustling five-attorney firm. Mr. Willy has been a leading member of Houston’s society and has been particularly involved in the local South Asian community.
He received his BA, with double honors (Summa Cum Laude) in Political Science and Philosophy from McMaster University, Canada, and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. Mr. Willy is considered one of the top immigration lawyers in the US. He combines a thorough knowledge of immigration law with a unique perspective. His personal mission is to make immigration equitable for everyone and has a reputation for solving complex legal issues with creative solutions drawn from his early exposure to a variety of disciplines. In 1990, Texas Governor Ann Richards appointed Mr. Willy to Co-Chair a Task force to exploit the investment visa that Congress had created. After Bill Clinton was elected President, Mr. Willy was a frequent visitor to the White House for briefings and social events hosted by the President and First Lady. As host of the TV show, The Other Side, Mr. Willy has interviewed such prominent guests including former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, Houston Mayor Bill White, and the President and CEO of the Texas Medical Center Robert C. Robbins. He is also a regular guest on Radio Shows broadcast every week on AM 1320 and AM 1050. Recently he was invited to advice the White House Asian American Initiative on immigration issues. Mr. Willy hosts ‘Minds That Matter’ a radio show every week. On this show he interviews people with extraordinary abilities in all fields of endeavor. Mr. Willy has served on several boards and is invited to speak at several important forums. Mr. Willy is married to Shanti and has 2 daughters. |
