Gary is currently AVP – Privacy with responsibility for AT&T’s Privacy Assurance program to enhance the maturity of the program and reduce the overall privacy risk profile. This includes risk assessment, framework development, oversight testing, KRIs and reporting and technology planning. Prior to this role, he was responsible for compliance oversight and risk management for data protection, third party, sales practices and antitrust for AT&T Communications Company.
Gary began his career with AT&T Bell Laboratories as a research and development engineer in Data Communications. Throughout his more than 30-year career he has held positions across numerous functions including product development, product management, systems engineering, offer management, sales, finance, operations (customer service, billing, collections), compliance and privacy in both AT&T’s Business and Consumer Units as well as in wireline and mobility.
Prior roles included VP of Home Solutions Support providing contact center strategy, business planning, vendor management and self-service and digital care strategy.
During this time, he helped to drive technological innovation and digital support to reduce cost and improve the customer experience. Gary was also VP of Enterprise Mobility Customer Care where he and his team had responsibility for all CRU Customer Service and Technical Care and VP of Billing and Collections for Business Services where his global team was responsible for the end-to-end Quote to Cash process. Gary also spent five years as a VP in finance leading various business and consumer units and was VP and CFO of AT&T’s Consumer Business Unit.
Gary holds a Bachelor’s in Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology, a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA in International Business from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. Gary also completed an Executive Education Program at Northwestern University.
